Very beautiful and an amazing place to lay of and relax especially after touring around. It's a great shame that this is the only place google maps has saved through my whole trip to Europe.

The most beautiful facade one building can get. But you can't properly enjoy the beauty because of big noise and the crowd around you.

Yesterday afternoon I saw a bird, a seagull bobbing in Trevi Fountain, bobbing up and down and around, back and forth in the basin. It was so sweet I took a video and posted it on my public Facebook page

An exuberant Baroque fountain that is one of the most popular tourist sites in Rome. Built of white travertine and marble, the Trevi Fountain is a monumental fountain in the heart of Rome. Its creator was architect Niccolo Salvi (1697–1751), selected for the job after a competition staged by Pope Clement XII in 1732. Salvi produced a flamboyant theatrical design with a basin that is 65 ft (20 m) wide, embellished by huge statues and a high backdrop formed by adding a decorative facade to the palace behind. The sparklingly clear water for the fountain is brought from a spring outside Rome by the Aqua Vergine, a Renaissance update of an original ancient Roman underground aqueduct. Salvi did not live to see the fountain finished, as he died in 1751. His successor, Giuseppe Pannini (1691–1765), completed the project in 1762. The theme of the fountain’s group of statues is “the taming of the waters.” The massive figure of Oceanus—one of the ancient immortal Titans, lord of the seas—rides a shell chariot drawn by sea horses and guided by tritons blowing conches. Standing in niches to each side of Oceanus are allegorical statues representing Abundance and Health. The figures of Oceanus and the tritons are by Italian sculptor Pietro Bracci (1700–1773). The fountain in popular imagination. The romantic potential of the fountain has been exploited in several famous films, most notably William Wyler’s Roman Holiday (1953) and Federico Fellini’s La Dolce Vita (1960). Throwing a coin into the basin, to guarantee luck or a return to Rome, is an established tourist custom.

The font is really beautiful! But when I went, in January / 2020, it was so crowded, that there was no way to take a picture without several people appearing around, very tumultuous and noisy, making it difficult even to get closer. In 1730, Pope Clement XII created a contest to design a fountain. ... Trevi means “three ways” - the place where the source is was the intersection of three paths that were there. By far the largest and most famous fountain in Rome, the Fontana di Trevi is 20 meters wide by 26 meters high

The Trevi Fountain is most popular and most visited famous fountain in Rome. We visited this place in Nov 2012 in the evening and were fascinated by its beauty and architecture. This one of the oldest water sources in Rome. The fountain dates back to ancient Roman times, since the construction of the Aqua Virgo Aqueduct in 19 B.C. that provided water to the Roman baths and the fountains of central Rome. The Trevi Fountain is 26.3 metres (86 ft) high and 49.15 metres (161.3 ft) wide and it is the largest Baroque fountain in the city and one of the most famous fountains in the world. The fountain has appeared in several notable films. Competitions had become popular during the Baroque era to design buildings, fountains, as well as the Spanish Steps. In 1730, Pope Clement XII organized a contest in which Nicola Salvi initially lost to Alessandro Galilei – but due to the outcry in Rome over a Florentine having won, Salvi was awarded the commission anyway and Work began in 1732. Salvi died in 1751 with his work half finished, but he had made sure a barber's unsightly sign would not spoil the ensemble, hiding it behind a sculpted vase called by Romans, the "Ace of Cups", because of its resemblance to a Tarot card. Four different sculptors were hired to complete the fountain's decorations: Pietro Bracci (whose statue of Oceanus sits in the central niche), Filippo della Valle, Giovanni Grossi, and Andrea Bergondi] Giuseppe Pannini was hired as architect. The fountain was built at the end of an aqueduct (Aqua Virgo) that was constructed in 19BC. The Aqua Virgo was built by Augustus's son-in-law Agrippa to supply water for the Roman Baths. The water for the fountain comes from the Salone Springs about 14 miles outside of Rome The Trevi Fountain was finished in 1762 by Pannini, who substituted the present allegories for planned sculptures of Agrippa and Trivia, the Roman virgin. It was officially opened and inaugurated on 22 May by Pope Clement XIII. The majority of the piece is made from Travertine stone, quarried near Tivoli, about 35 kilometres (22 mileeast of Rome. Coins are purportedly meant to be thrown using the right hand over the left shoulder. This was the theme of 1954's Three Coins in the Fountain and the Academy Award-winning song by that name which introduced the picture. They've installed a temporary walkway that takes you close to the statues and which is above the water-basin area of the fountain. Signs instruct visitors to not throw coins inside this area but many do and you can also see the many many coins below you. over a year ago. The money has been used to subsidize a supermarket for Rome's needy In 1973, the Italian national postal service dedicated a postage stamp to the Trevi Fountain.[17] In the 2003 film The Lizzie McGuire Movie, Lizzie tossed a coin into the Trevi Fountain to wish for smooth sailing in her coming high school years.

The font is really beautiful! But when I went, in January / 2020, it was so crowded, that there was no way to take a picture without several people appearing around, very tumultuous and noisy, making it difficult even to get closer. If you want to know more about architecture and travel, be sure to follow the profile The Trevi Fountain, a postcard from Rome, is the largest (about 26 meters high and 20 meters wide). The place is quite busy mainly to be able to play the wish coin, some say it is to be able to return to Rome and others say it is to fulfill the requested wish, by tradition says you have to close your eyes with your left hand and play the coin with his back to the source. The place is beautiful and to make the photo without anyone beside you have enough patience because it is very popular. #fonte #fonteditrevi #fontanaditrevi #desejos #roma

Very crowded, famous fountain. Yes, it is beautiful, but it was no match for the other daunting buildings in Rome. Nevertheless, it is a must-see spot in Rome. Recommended for a quick visit. As it gets very crowded, be wary of pickpocketers.

Not only Mastroianni and 'dolce vita' with Egberg. The building in Via Stamperia 6 and Palazzo Poli house the largest collection of drawings ad prints in Europe including original works of Leoardo , Botticelli , Reni , Carracci as well as Piranesi and Morandi . All these masterpieces are on display on rotation and can be seen in the wed sites now in reorganisation. Stunning.

It is very beautiful. The atmosphere is brilliant and the architecture is out of this world, however , I was very surprised at how cramped it is. It is literally in the middle of a tiny square between back streets, it’s very busy, so that almost takes away a little of the magic. The water is so clear and pristine.

The photos were taken in 2012. I threw a coin over my right shoulder at the Fountain of Trevi in 1987 and apparently it worked. I'm there again 25 years later in 2012. Yes, I threw a coin again. Hope I will be there in 2037.

The sight that everyone knows in Rome, the place where couples are sitting all the time, and it all makes sense with its magical atmosphere. Now because of covid I had the chance to take pictures without the queueing, loud tourists and crowd, though it was not allowed to get as close as normally.
